Farm Links

Where possible, we can link your school with a local working farm or estate to give your pupils the opportunity to visit the working countryside. The RNCI Project Officer can help with planning these visits and offer advice and information on risk assessments, and the health and safety guidelines for farm visits.

Classroom Speakers

If it is not possible to arrange a farm visit, why not have the farmer come to you? RNCI has a network of volunteer farmer speakers who are willing to come into class and talk to your pupils about their work. They can bring with them a variety of props, tools, photographs and crop and feed samples to illustrate their talk.

In Service Events

In conjunction with Aberdeen Environmental Education Centre, RNCI offers regular in service events on farm visits and the working countryside. Held on farms across the RNCI area, these workshops are free of charge and offer the opportunity to look at the teaching possibilities from a farm visit. They include a farm tour, time to chat and exchange ideas over tea and coffee and an introduction to project planning. Free additional resources for your school are also often available.

These events - usually held after school hours - may count towards teachers contractual 35 hours Continued Professional Development.

Our next in service event is a "Looking at the Farm" workshop, which is due to be held at 4.00 pm on Wednesday, 28th May 2008 at Corskie, Garmouth, Fochabers, Moray. For more information and/or to download a booking form click here
